What is “Let’s Read”? / Let’s Read是什麼？
Let’s Read is a multi-sectoral project led by JCI Chaktomuk Chapter which aims to
promote long-term sustainable development in one rural area of Cambodia: Tram Kak district (with 144,032 inhabitants). Our focus is to address some of the basic needs in our target area and to engage with local authorities, as well as with other stakeholders and citizens, to ensure that our project provides a long-term solution to the most important development challenges in the target area.
Let’s Read是由JCI Chaktomuk分會發起的多部門工作計劃，目的是為柬埔寨鄉郊地區——Tram Kak﹙14.4萬人口﹚推動長期可持續發展。我們著重解決當地人的基本需要，通過與當局、持份者、居民接洽，確保我們能為目標地區最重要的發展挑戰，提供長期可行方案。
What development challenges? / 我們解決什麼發展挑戰？
Poverty rate in Cambodia was 13.5%. About 90% of the poor live in the countryside.
Only 43% of population completes lower secondary education.
79% do not have access to piped water supply; 58% do not have access to improved sanitation.
Sexual assault 性侵犯
5% of Cambodian girls have suffered from sexual assualt prior to age 18.
Traffic accidents 交通意外
In 2015, traffic accidents killed 2,265 people and injured more than 15,000; 40% of whom were seriously injured.
What are the objectives? / 我們有何目標？
While we mainly focus was on the establishment of the first educational resource center for the whole Tram Kak district, we also undertook some additional activities, such as setting up of 9 toilets for improved sanitation and prevention of sexual assaults against girls, and undertaking awareness raising events for better health, sanitation and traffic safety.
